Know your frustration level...

We all get frustrated right? It's normal. The questions are, how do you handle your frustration? Do you know your frustration level or frustration tolerance? I'll speak for myself. I have a tendency to just let things slide even if I'm bothered. Why? For one, I hate conflict. Two, I don't want to come off as if I'm angry or bothered all of the time. Three, I fear that expressing it may not get me anywhere. But, all three of these reasons can become a problem. Instead of dealing with situations "head on"; diplomatically and professionally, I hold back and therefore the frustration is being stored and it begins to build. THAT'S NOT HEALTHY! Built up frustration can lead to anger or stress that you may not realize is there. So, what happens is, you go from the first illustration of feeling a little frustrated, to the second illustration of total frustration and rage. The second illustration demonstrates feelings of "I've had it", "I'm extremely angry" and "I've lost control". If you're like me and you don't necessarily want to address or confront every little thing, you must find ways to reduce your frustration levels. Take deep breaths. Take a short walk. Close your eyes for a few minutes or stretch. You must be aware of your frustration tolerance. Be in tune with you body. What feelings do you get when you feel like it has gone too far? What does your body feel like just before you get to that moment? Know yourself. It's okay to be frustrated. It's okay to be angry. It's not okay to build either of them up and essentially lose it.

If any of this sounds familiar take one step to make a change. I will begin by being conscious of how my body feels when I become "a little frustrated" and either confront it appropriately or take deep breaths and say silent prayers to reduce it.

In order to keep our bodies healthy, we need to be totally aware of its reactions and how it feels with everything.

Know your frustration tolerance. Be keen on what your mind, body and spirit are signaling.
