Decompress or Decompose...

If you don't practice decompressing regularly, your body and your mind will begin to decompose. Many of us literally run until we run out of steam. We work, handle the family, participate in our churches and organizations and leave very little time for self preservation. It's great to do all of those things but the body and mind need time to recharge. They can't recharge if they are constantly on. They will simply burn out. If you are running yourself "ragged", how do you expect your body and mind to rest and renew? They won't. Instead they will shut down on you. The result; sickness, weakness, emotional instability, moodiness and fatigue. Your body and mind need rest. Take a breather and decompress. Whatever that looks like for you, take the time to do it. Set aside the time for it. Whether it be everyday, every week or every month, just do it. The time that you may need will depend on the extent of your active lifestyle.

I personally believe that I need to "take it down" at least once a week, otherwise I become scattered and imbalanced. That is not a good feeling. Once I take my brief respite, I am ready to get out there and get to work; refreshed and rejuvenated.

The image gives us a few options of how we can decompress. Try one or a few, or come up with your own way. Remember, life is about balance. Your mind body and spirit need it to survive properly. If you abuse them without allowing them to decompress, they will surely decompose. Which one do you want to do? To decompress is proactive. To try and fix things as you begin to decompose is reactive. I want to be proactive. I want my mind, body and spirit

to work their best for me. That means I have to treat them properly. Choose your way, DECOMPRESS OR DECOMPOSE.
