Get your Rest...


I know that I've written about rest on here before. However, I can not stress it enough. I had a friend look me in the eye a few weeks ago and say, "I need for you to be still. You are all over the place". She then, said, "I got that in my spirit for you." I immediately took heed. That meant to me, that if I didn't get some rest, that my body was going to crash and shut down. Too often we rip and run and rip and run and our body will literally go into "shut down" mode. That may mean becoming very ill, major body aches, extreme fatigue or feeling mentally unstable. Rest is the most important thing that we can do for our health. It recharges our brains. It recharges our bodies. It recharges our spirits. You don't necessarily have to take a long nap or a day off, but you can sit down and watch a movie, put off the house cleaning, read an enjoyable book, remove yourself from all things work. .. There are those times when you may need to totally remove yourself; take a short retreat getaway, take a mental health day and yes, take a nap.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Be aware of your mind needing to recuperate. Remember that we can not do anything without our minds. Give your mind a self check-up. Do something for your mind to keep it healthy. Spring clean it. Get rid of the clutter. Do a brief meditation once a week for the month. Journal for the month; your thoughts and reflections. Enjoy writing for the joy of writing. Say specific daily prayers and affirmations. Just do something. Your mind needs you and you need it.
