The coined and now ever so popular, "I'm Living My Best Life..." by Lil Duval featuring Snoop Dogg is repeated everywhere and about everything. But, are you/we really living our best lives? Part of me living my best life was blogging every week about a God given topic to encourage others. I've been gone for about a month. Why? Because, of another popular phrase, "Life Happens". When what we call, "Life Happens" gets in the way, are we truly living our best lives? I'd say, no. While the business of life was happening to me, I was so consumed in the day to day of what needed to be done that I lost sight of, without even realizing it, doing what fulfills me. ...this function, that event, this appointment, that meeting, this obligation, that second job, this relationship, that friendship... Being consumed with what we think may be us living our best lives may actually cause us to lose a bit of ourselves in the process. This is not necessarily a bad thing and should be temporary. The good thing is, we can gain our "MoJo" back. Once we recognize that we have lost sight of the things that make us happy and fulfill us, we can begin to regain our momentum.
I was temporarily fixated on so many different things and making sure that it all got done, that I lost a bit of my "MoJo". I slowed down with things that I love to fulfill obligations and commitments.
As I've indicated in several other blogs prior, it's all about balance. Balance is not always easy and sometimes a bit impossible, but to live our best lives we must make the effort to manage the balancing act.
I want to live my best life. I want to be able to do all the things that I enjoy without feeling overwhelmed by a gazillion external factors; and it is possible. I am getting my "MoJo" back and it feels pretty good!
What does living your best life look like? Have you temporarily fallen off the wagon? It is ok. Just jump right back on. What fulfills you? What is your "MoJo"? Each day, ask yourself the question, am I living my best life? If not, ask yourself, "why?". Answer these questions and then make a promise to yourself that you will. Make a list of what it looks like to you.
For some, living their best life is simply being grateful everyday. For others it's the dream career. For others it's helping others and for others it's enjoying a hobby. Your best life is as individual as a snowflake.
We only get one life. Live it to the fullest and make it the best!
